For optimum freshness, it is recommended that you try to use your coffee within two weeks. If you store your unopened bags of coffee in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag, in a cool, dry, dark place, it can maintain freshness for about a month. The amount of time your coffee will stay fresh decreases the moment your grind it, which is why it is better to buy whole bean.
You should never store your coffee in a refrigerator and we strongly recommend not freezing coffee because of the porous nature of the bean. Coffee will absorb moisture and other flavor molecules in your freezer. The temperature fluctuations from opening and closing your freezer can also damage the quality of your coffee. Because Land of a Thousand Hills coffee is speciality grade coffee that is roasted to order, we recommend keeping it out of the freezer if at all possible.
